What it is

Story of Lights Nuremberg is a walk-through light park: a marked circular route through the castle grounds in Stein near Nuremberg, lined with illuminated sculptures and light scenes that come on after dark. It is not a Christmas market — there are no craft stalls, and it is not in Nuremberg's old town. You buy a ticket, you walk the route, and at an unhurried pace it takes about an hour.

The 2026/27 season is this park's first season. With it Germany becomes the fifth country of Story of Lights, bringing the series to twelve light parks in five European countries. The season's theme is Travelling Around Europe. Theme, route and programme are being prepared together with the partner.

Dates and prices

The dates for the 2026/27 season and the prices have not been published yet. We are not inventing them: as soon as the operator confirms an opening day and a price list, they will appear on the park's official page — and then here. Ticket presale has not started.

What is already fixed are the daily opening hours: open every day from 16:00 to 21:00, last entry 20:30. The park is closed on 24 and 31 December.

Practical notes

The park is at Nürnberger Straße 2, 90547 Stein, a few kilometres south-west of central Nuremberg.
The route crosses park paths and grass and is outdoors — dress for a winter walk and wear proper shoes.
It only works after dark, which is why entry is late in the day.
Dogs are welcome: on a lead (max. 120 cm) and muzzled, and please bring waste bags. Guide and assistance dogs are always admitted free of charge and without a muzzle.
Because this is the first season, travel directions, parking and entry conditions will be published together with the dates.

Why this is here

Because we run it — and it would be dishonest to hide that. This site is published by DECOLED, the Czech manufacturer that builds the light sculptures in its own workshop and operates the Story of Lights parks. The park in Stein is the only attraction on this website that we earn money from. Every Christmas market in this guide belongs to someone else, is listed purely for information, and is neither rated nor ranked by us.
